Turtle Farm opens its doors for free

Friday, December 8, 2006

The management of Boatswain’s Beach said the general public is invited to the attraction this weekend for free.

What is fast becoming one of Cayman’s most popular attractions has waived its basic entrance costs and charges for touring so residents can enjoy what it calls a one-of-a-kind true Caymanian experience that will provide everyone with an unforgettable encounter into the subtle yet radiant culture of the Islands on Saturday, 9 December.

According to the management free entrance is only the beginning of what Boatswain’s Beach has to offer, as the day will be filled with great additional perks and treats. From the start of the day visitors will be treated to breakfast and other snacks and foods.

The days’ outing promises to provide natural and historical culture of the Cayman Islands, a walk through the Blue Hole Nature Trail or a stroll along Cayman Street with its old time homes and traditional gardens.

Local artisans are slated to to trade and display their local crafts including thatch work, gig and kite making and steel pan music.

Guided tours will be offered every hour on the hour.

Extra excitement is lined up for the kids, the management of the farm said, with a visit from Santa in the afternoon for picture taking and the launching of Bosun’s’ Adventure Club. Kids are encouraged to visit the Membership Club booth and sign up to become a ‘Bosun’s’ Adventurer!

Boatswain’s Beach also boasts a new 3,500 sq foot retail store stocked with clothes, jewelry, candles, picture frames among many others and 10 percent discount is being offered on all items sold for the day with free gift-wrapping.

Management said that an Events Booth will be set up in the Park where anyone can enquire about planning a birthday or staff party, wedding or concert.

Doors to the park open at 8:00 am until 6:00 pm with the festivities continuing with a Happy Hour at Schooner’s Bar and Grill until 9:00pm; drink specials will be going on all day and a dj will be playing music into the night. The park opens its doors for a full day of free admission to the public.

Free transportation to the Park will also be running from Bayshore Mall in George Town. Buses will be running to the Park at 9:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm as well as 6:00 pm and departing back to George Town at 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
