Bank supports school band’s UK trip

Saturday, December 9, 2006

(L) Ormond Williams, President Cayman National makes presentations to members of the JGHS band and Band Director, Mr. Eustace Francis.

The Cayman National Bank has thrown its support for the John Gray High School Steel Band’s visit to London to perform at the New Year’s Day Parade and Festival in London and a concert at the Westminster Methodist Church Hall where it would also perform with other youth bands from around the world.

The event is being hosted by the City of Westminster.

President of the bank, Ormond Williams, in making the presentation noted that, “The development of our cultural art forms is vital for the preservation of the values we cherish as a people and the strengthening of the fabric of our society.

The young people who are involved in the John Gray Steel band have demonstrated their commitment to this cultural expression and we are honored to support them.  We wish them every success on their upcoming tour to London.”

In expressing his appreciation, Director of the steel band Mr. Eustace Francis, said “John Gray High School is extremely grateful to Cayman National for its continued support of our school over the years.

This latest donation to our Steel Band appeal to help with our trip to London is just another example of the organization’s sensitivity to the needs of our school.  We thank Cayman National for their most generous donation; our dream is so much nearer to reality because of it.”
