National Trust Bodden Town Bats
The National Trust invites interested persons on Saturday 3 March at 5:30 pm, to meet under a bat house to observe the bats as they make their first flight of the evening. Lois Blumenthal will provide will provide the interpretive talk during the fly-out at sunset. A unique experience suited for all ages. CI$5 for Trust members, $10 for non-members. Cayman Islands Diabetes Association Meeting
The CI Diabetes Association invites the public to attend the next monthly meeting on Wednesday 7 March at 6:00 pm at the Public Health/Women’s Health section of the George Town Hospital. Youth Explosion at First Assembly of God
The First Assembly of God Church invites all the youth on the Island to a Youth Explosion on Saturday 10 March at 6:00 pm at the Church’s car park on Old Crewe Road. Guests are Rev Timothy Robinson and Anderson Queto of St Lucia, including many local artistes and youth groups. Attendance is free, but refreshments will be on sale. Cayman Islands Humane Society Collectables Sale
On Saturday 3 March, the Animal Shelter Complex, North Sound Road  will be having a Collectables Sale from 8.30 am  to noon. Unusual, unique and interesting items are up for sale - musical instruments, paintings, glassware and much more, come and have a rummage you never know what bargain you will find. CI Red Cross First Aid and CPR Courses
The Cayman Islands Red Cross is offering Health and Safety Course Training (First Aid and CPR Courses) until February 2007. The last course - Adult First Aid/CPR/AED - is Wednesday 28 February from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Call Training Manager Peter Hughes on 925-0715 for further information.

Lunchtime Lectures
Intelligent walk-through lectures revolve around the current show, but are always different in content, and are led by Sorbonne graduate Emerentienne Paschalides. Complimentary sandwiches and drinks provided.  They are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 12:15 pm at the National Gallery Harbour Place. Spring Convention
The 72nd Annual Spring Convention of the Church of God in the Cayman Islands continues until Wednesday 28 February at the Church of God Chapel and the Family Life Centre on Walker’s Road. Workshops at St Alban’s Church and Public Luncheon at Elmslie’s
St Alban’s Church of England continues its public workshops at the church on 28 February and on 1 March. Each session begins at 7:30 pm and will be lead by the Rev Dr Peter Toon speaking on the Anglican vision for human society and the role of the Book of Common Prayer. The Cayman Ministers’ Association and St Alban’s Church will also continue their public Luncheon Meeting at Elmslie Church Hall on Wednesday 28 February from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm, with the Rev Dr Peter Toon, speaking on the challenges of Biblical and contemporary thought and of new birth as a Christian. The environment will be the main focus of this month’s Chamber of Commerce Luncheon at the Wharf Restaurant on 28 February. Enumerators Needed for Living Conditions Survey
Community-minded persons from Cayman Brac are invited to volunteer as enumerators for the Survey of Living Conditions/ Household Budget Survey Phase of the National Assessment of Living Conditions. Volunteers will receive a modest allowance for their work. The deadline for submitting applications is Friday, 2 March, at 12:00 pm. Fish Fry
The St Ignatius Catholic Church will have a Fish Fry every Friday evening during Lent at the St Ignatius Catholic School Cafeteria on the following Fridays in March - 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, as well as 6 April. Time: 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The cost is $10 per meal and proceeds will go towards World Youth Day, Sydney Australia in 2008.

What Bird Is That?

St Alban’s Church of England will hold Scripture Study and the Holy Eucharist on Sunday 4 March at 9:00 am in St. Alban’s Church at 461 Shedden Road, George Town (opposite Bodden Place). The celebrant and preacher will be the Rev Dr Peter Toon, who will also preach at evening prayer at 6:00 pm.

The C.I. Diabetes Association invites the public to attend the next monthly meeting on Wednesday 7 March, 2007 at 6:00 pm. Meetings are held in the Public Health/Women’s Health section of the C.I. Hospital. The topic of discussion will be controlling high blood pressure and high blood cholesterol for better heart health. Cayfest 2007 19-29 April
Registration forms for the Cayfest Photography Competition are available at Cayman Camera, Island Photo, Photo Plus, Picture This, Rapid Photo and The Camera Store. Deadline for registration is 22 March. The deadline for registration for the Cayfest Literary Competition is 29 March and registration forms are available at both Hobbies and Books stores, The Piccadilly Bookshop and Books By The Bay. Registration forms for the Cayfest Art Exhibition and Sale are available at The Nation Gallery and deadline for registration is 29 March 2007. All registration forms are also available at the Cayman Islands National Cultural Foundation (CNCF) office, 3rd Floor Elizabethan Square or the CNCF website at www.artscayman.org/cayfest.

Mass at Catholic Chapel in Cayman Brac

RCIPS – Collection of Fees
The Licensing Department will no longer be collecting fees in regards to Firearm Permits or Police Reports. All fees will now be collected at the Criminal Records Office located at GT Police Station between 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Post Office requesting pick up of mail
The Cayman Islands Postal Service is requesting that post box renters clear their boxes on a daily basis. Remember, post offices are open on Saturdays between 9:00 am and 12:30 pm on Grand Cayman. Please note that Customs is closed at 12 noon on Saturdays. Cayman Brac’s Saturday post office hours are 9:00 am to 11:30 am, and Little Cayman’s are 10:00 am to 1:30 pm.

The Pink Ladies Volunteer Corps
Would like to inform the public that their Pink Hibiscus Coffee Shop located at George Town Hospital has been relocated within the Hospital. It is open five and a half days a week and situated in the old X-Ray Department opposite the Mental Health Department just along from the Women’s Centre. Art Magnet
Are you middle-school aged, love art, and feeling lonely, or in trouble?  The National Gallery’s State Street-sponsored Art Magnet is a FREE programme for middle-school aged, children who love art and are between ages 10-12. Red Cross Thrift Shop

East End Library Open
The East End Library is now open Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm; Wednesdays and Thursdays - 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. The cost of a library card remains at $2.00 per year for adults, while children’s membership continues to be free.

National Gallery’s Art Sisters 
Welcomes Ladies who like to paint and dabble to come along and join the Dart Foundation sponsored Art Sisters!  Art sessions for women and teenaged girls take place on Saturdays from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the National Gallery Education Centre, located at # 5 Baytown Plaza (the old Merren’s Plaza, or right next to the KFC).
