Boost for Pennies from Heaven auction

Friday, April 13, 2007

Father Mike Molnar and Celeste Broderick enjoy last year’s Pennies from Heaven auction.

Key sponsors have lined up to support the St. Ignatius Catholic School and Church’s annual Pennies from Heaven auction.

The fun event takes place on Saturday, May 5, and the premier sponsors now include KISS-FM, Jacques Scott, Mise en Place Catering and Vampt Motors.

The auction co-ordinators say they are excited to have such widespread support from the Cayman community. St. Ignatius’ Father Mike Molnar said, “Having such a unique combination of leaders from a variety of Cayman industries supporting this year’s auction is most impressive.

“As a result of such support, the St. Ignatius auction is sure to be successful and maybe even the best one ever.”

All proceeds from the auction will go towards supporting the St. Ignatius School Development Plan for Technology. While there is a significant need for upgrades to current hardware, coordinators hope to be able to go even further, including securing interactive white boards and a new Tablet PC Computer Lab.

This cutting-edge technology in the classroom will be an invaluable aid to the St. Ignatius students’ ability to be successful both before and after graduation.

The sponsors have offered a variety of support. Vampt Motors is providing a brand new 2007 Toyota Rav 4 Wagon.  And, since the C.I. Government has granted a 50 percent duty waiver on the vehicle, one lucky bidder could drive home this beautiful new Toyota for several thousand dollars less than what they’d have paid from the dealer. The vehicle can be inspected at Vampt Motors on Walkers Road.

This is the second year in a row that Jacques Scott has agreed to be a premier sponsor.  Once again, it will be donating the beverages for the evening, including their premier brands of beer, wine and champagne.

Managing Director of Jacques Scott, Peter Dutton, has agreed to book an entire table for his staff and clients to enjoy the event.

KISS 106.1 FM has agreed to donate a radio advertising package worth $2,000. It has also  been airing PSA radio ads in support of the event.

KISS Morning Host Tim Rose will be the auction’s Master of Ceremonies and says he is looking forward to entertaining the crowd with his unique sense of humour.

Mise en Place Professional Catering will be providing a full menu, featuring several culinary delights, such as their famous Seared Tuna Canapé. To view their courses for the event go to www.st-gnatius.ky and click on the Fun Raising tab.

The auction will be held in the beautiful St. Ignatius courtyard, with its unique centerpiece fountain. The evening kicks off with a Silent Auction with champagne and appetizers, followed by a delicious dinner, culminating with the exciting Live Auction.

Throughout the evening, guests will be entertained by Bidding Frenzies and other fun surprises.

Auctioneer James Bebarfald, from Cayman 27, will be ready to accept the winning bid.

St. Ignatius will provide easy auction instructions to those who need them.

Coordinators expect to have over 500 prizes this year, many of which will be taken home at incredibly low prices.

Tickets are now on sale for $60 each or $540 for a table of 10.  Dress is smart casual and the event starts at 6:00 pm, with the first Silent Auction tier closing at 7:30 pm.
