Suspended Commissioner of Police Stuart Kernohan has left the Cayman Islands, rushing to the bedside of his sick father in the UK, but will return to George Town in due course.  A spokesman for the commissioner said, “Mr. Kernohan is off island in the UK due to the illness of his father. He requested and received written permission from Governor Stuart Jack to leave and looks forward to returning to the Cayman Islands.”  read more...

Cayman Airways Limited (CAL) could save more than CI$800,000 annually in fuel costs by using an increasingly familiar device seen on the wings of most jets flying into Owen Roberts International Airport.  Winglets are the four- to seven-foot add-ons that attach to the end of a jet’s wing that significantly reduce drag on planes, allowing them to save up to six percent of fuel per flight and increase cargo capacity. read more...




Increased funding and savings in expenses will be used to fund the $5.5 million approved by the Legislative Assembly (LA) on Monday as additional spending for the current 2007-2008 budget.  Financial Secretary Hon Kenneth Jefferson told an extended Finance Committee sitting last Friday that as a result of the supplementary budget, the reduced net surplus is now projected to be $20.8 million. read more...




Head of the Burns Conolly Group, Burns Conolly, says his company is taking legal advice with a view to seeking damages against the Auditor General’s Office for a critical report on the Royal Watler Cruise Terminal.  The report, which was released in 2006, pointed to a questionable contract tendering process and possible overcharging by the contractors. read more...
