Peace for Cayman

Published on Friday, September 25, 2009Email To Friend    Print Version

Peace for Cayman, a newly formed organisation that promotes peace and order in the community invites everyone to be active and support their peace march and rally on Saturday, 26 September at 7am.

The march begins at Fort Street in George Town, through South Church Street and will end at Dart Park.

The group is hoping to attract the youth and people from all walks of life to participate and stand united in declaring opposition to criminal acts of violence prevalent in the community.

Likewise, the rally aims to influence people to find better solutions to their disagreements and to remind them not to resort to violence to end disputes.

“We are very eager to communicate to these people that the residents of the Cayman Islands will not tolerate violence and crime,” relates Candace Myles, an active member of the peace group.

During the rally, guest speakers such as Pastor Felix Manzanares, David Gordon, Luigi Moxam and Richard Christian will address participants on violent crimes taking place in Cayman.

There will be medical and spiritual counselors present to provide consultation services to persons wishing to discuss some private matters.

The stage will also be open to any individual who wish to share their sentiments, opinions or ideas on how to achieve peace in Cayman through poetry, speech, theatre or any art form.

The group encourages individuals to find better options in dealing with their anger and to surrender their guns, knives and other deadly weapons during the peace gathering.
