Thirty employees of Appleby recently attended a fire safety training seminar conducted by the Cayman Islands Fire Service. The seminar was held at the Appleby offices and additional fire extinguisher training was provided at George Town Fire Station on Owen Roberts Drive.

The training was initiated by the firm’s Operations and Facilities Department and the objectives were to provide attendees with up-to-date emergency response fire safety training, fire prevention, familiarisation with fire classifications and fire extinguishing equipment, and to better understand the services offered by the Cayman Islands Fire Service. During the seminar, Appleby employees had the opportunity to engage in hands-on training. Exercises included the correct methods of using a portable fire extinguisher.

“I am pleased the Cayman Islands Fire Service was able to demonstrate the proper and effective use of their safety equipment. The information shared by Joseph Thompson of the Cayman Islands Fire Service is very useful, not only in the workplace but at home as well. Something as simple as taking a few minutes to familiarise yourself with your surroundings and nearest exits, can make the difference between safety and serious injury” said Stacey Nichols, at Appleby, who organised the session.

Appleby places the health and safety of its employees and clients as a high priority. “By educating employees with accurate and complete fire safety procedures, we are protecting our employees and empowering them to take better control of their own health and safety twenty-four hours a day,” said Huw Moses OBE, Appleby’s Managing Partner. “We are grateful to the Cayman Islands Fire Service for taking the time to facilitate this training seminar for the firm,” he added.
