Dane of X107.1’s The Morning X leads the way by example being shaved at Coconut MOe’s to embark on MOvember journey!
For the whole month of November, the men of Cayman will grow a moustache (MO) to raise funds and awareness for men’s health issues, with the local beneficiary being the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. Budweiser has also signed on as a sponsor.
Having signed on as the official media sponsors, dms Broadcasting Ltd. stations X107.1 and 96.5 CAYROCK, have announced that the kick off to MOvember was hugely inspiring. On the evening of 1 November, the men of Cayman showed up in abundance at Coconut MOe’s to be clean shaven for a good cause.
The “MOpening Ceremony” at Coconut MOe’s marked the official roll out of the month-long annual tradition, commonly referred to as the celebration of the moustache. There was an initial $25 fee to register as a MO Bro, and then it is the responsibility of the MO Bro to raise as many sponsorship dollars as possible during their month-long challenge to grow and groom a MO – all in the name of charity. Hundreds of people showed up during the night to participate as well as to show their support.
Said Dane of X107.1’s The Morning X, “You have to practice what you preach, and I have been using my voice on the airwaves to conjure up excitement about this worthy cause – and likewise, I have signed on and I am hugely excited to embark on this journey of growing a moustache for the good of men’s health.”
“This annual tradition seems to grow in popularity each year as the word spreads, and if the turnout at Coconut MOe’s is any indication of what the month has in store, then I am ecstatic about what greatness can be achieved,” he noted.
There are four more events scheduled for the month of MOvember. Mid-MOvember madness will include events hosted at Dog House on Friday November 6th, 5 PM onwards; Rackham’s on Friday 13 November, (coinciding with Pirates Week fireworks) from 7:00 pm onwards; and CaliMO Jack’s on Saturday 21 November, 7:00 pm onwards – awarding free drinks to the best MO as judged by the bar staff of CaliMO Jack’s. The month will come to a close at the finale “MOsquerade ball” at MOgaritaville (Margaritaville) on Friday, 27 November at 7:30 pm.
dms Broadcasting’s Network Promotions and Marketing Manager Phil Vinciullo added, “It was awesome to see so many people out to show their support and we hope everyone continues to show their support either through participation or through sponsoring a MO Bro – it is a collaborative effort, and a big portion of the success of this event relies on the generosity of the people of Cayman. On behalf of dms Broadcasting, it is our honour to do our part by spreading the word across Cayman and you can expect to see us out there participating at all of the events during the month.”
He added, “All the events during the month will be documented online, so make sure to check the action out at www.x1071.ky and www.cayrock.ky.” |
