Parents urged to take more advantage of summer camps

The kids performed based on a Country and Western theme, ‘Saddle Ridge Ranch’.

PASTOR of the Cayman Islands Baptist Church, Randall Von Kanel, has appealed to parents to take advantage of ongoing summer camps in the Islands, to ensure positive influence on their children.

Pastor Randy issued this appeal last Sunday, after children closed their summer camp in his church, where they combined music and scripture to delight the congregation with a special concert.

The children had four days of summer camp, in which they were taught Christian morals based on a Country and Western theme ‘Saddle Ridge Ranch’.

On the first day of the camp, the children began by introducing themselves. On day two, they explored the subject, ‘Does God Care about me?’. On day three the lesson centred on the theme, ‘What is God’s Plan?’ and on day four they learnt how to be like Jesus.

Pastor Randy said that 22 children confessed their sins and were looking forward to living with a new resolve to become Christians.

He said that by learning and reciting scriptures and inviting their parents to church activities, children could set examples for their parents to attend a local church.

Leslie Metcalf served as director of the summer camp and was assisted by volunteers, some local and others from Tampa, Florida.
