Cayman Wildlife Rescue’s monthly meeting will be held at the National Trust Office in Dart Park on Thursday, 9 October at 6:00 pm. This meeting is open to all new volunteers wanting to assist in the rescue and release of injured, sick and orphaned native and endemic species. Annual Fall “Praise Gathering” at Church of God Chapel
The General Assembly of the Church of God Chapel invites everyone to the last night of its 11th Annual Fall “Praise Gathering” at 7: 30 on Wednesday 1 October at the Church of God Chapel on Walkers and Academy Way. The Theme is “Living Our Personal Journey with Christ”.
The Wednesday evening service will be a healing service as well as observance of the ordinances.

Lions Club of Tropical Gardens launches Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The Lions Club of Tropical Gardens is inviting the public to its opening ceremony to launch Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Wednesday 1 October at Heroes Square at 5:30 pm.

Chamber of Commerce will be having a two-day Communicating course
The Chamber of Commerce will be having a two-day course entitled ‘Communicating Effectively’ on Wednesday & Thursday, 1 & 2 October, from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm in the Chamber Training Room. National Trust Visitors Centre has ‘Open House’

Business After Hours - Mise en Place
There will be a ‘Business After Hours’ at Mise en Place on Thursday 2 October at the Red Gate Warehouse Complex from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. International Ladies Club holds Monthly Coffee Morning
International Ladies Club will hold its monthly coffee morning on Thursday, 2 October at 9:30 am in the Brick House Restaurant at the Grand Harbour Centre. Cost is CI$10 for members and CI$12 for non-members. New members are welcome. For information phone Barbara at 525-6593.

CTA holds Saturday Art Classes for Kids
Cayman Traditional Arts is planning on having Saturday Art Classes at the National Trust’s Nurse Leila House to assist children in their artistic abilities starting with the basics and working their way into more advanced forms of artwork. Session 1 classes begin 4 October – 20 December and Session 2 classes begin 10 January – 28 March 2009. Two classes will be held on Saturday, one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. A maximum of 10 children per class (twenty children per day) ages 5 thru 12. Morning classes 8:30 – 11:00 am; Afternoon classes: 12:30-3:00 pm.

National Gallery’s Exhibition From Within VI
The National Gallery through its Outreach Programmes continues its annual exhibition which highlights a collection of the best works from each of the nine outreach programmes. The exhibition is currently on and goes thru Wednesday 15 October. All items are on sale. 6:00 pm at Harbour Place. Refreshments available.

Cayman Islands Diabetes Association
The Cayman Islands Diabetes Association regret to advise the public that there will not be a monthly meeting held in October, 2008 but they will convene in November 2008. (Date to be announced). Please also watch the local media for information on their upcoming Diabetes Awareness Week activities.

Blue Iguana Safari at Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park
Interested persons are invited to come and meet the Blues from Monday to Saturday, at 11:00 am at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park. This one and a half hour fully guided tour takes one behind the scenes at the captive breeding facility. Cost is CI$24 and includes admission to the Park. St Ignatius Catholic Church’s Series of Classes
The St Ignatius Catholic Church will be holding a series of classes on the Christian Faith and Catholicism. Classes will be held each Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Interested adults, non-Catholic or Catholic, are invited to contact O’Neil Miller at the Church office at 949-6797.

Market at the Grounds, Lower Valley
The farmers’ and artisans’ market located at the Stacy Watler Agricultural Pavilion in Lower Valley, is open every Saturday from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. Locally grown produce, baked goods, arts and crafts etc are all available. Anyone also interested in becoming a vendor at the Market is asked to contact Gina Bodden at the Department of Agriculture at 947-3090.

Ladies In Faith Meeting
Ladies In Faith Together (L. I. F. T.) will be meeting on the last Saturday of every month at Brac Reef Beach Resort for a buffet breakfast at 9:00 am, at a cost of $8.00, and a time of prayer, fellowship, praise and worship in the conference room at 10:00 am at no charge.

Cayman Islands Museum Gift Shop’s location
The Cayman Islands Museum’s gift shop is now at Pasadora Place Complex, Smith Road and continues to serve the public Mondays to Fridays. It is closed on Saturdays.

National Gallery’s Ladies Scrapbooking

CICS Support Group
The Cayman Islands Cancer Society Support Group is advising that the support group is free of cost to anyone in the community, including anyone who is affected by cancer or family, friends and supporters. Meetings are held every first and third Tuesday of every month at the CICS office on 33 Eclipse Drive, off Eastern Avenue, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Email office@cics.ky for more information.

Conch and Whelk Season Closes
This is a reminder that the conch and whelk-taking season has ended. Department of Environment officials accordingly remind the public that anyone found guilty of violating the law is liable to a maximum penalty of CI$500,000 and one year in jail. The open season for whelk and conch runs from 1 November to 30 April each year. For more information visit www.gov.ky/doe or call 949-8469.

Used Stamps
The National Trust is collecting used stamps. Just drop them off at the Visitor’s Centre at the Dart Park or Mission House. For more information contact the National Trust at info@nationaltrust.org.ky or 949-0121.

‘Paws and Claws’ Thrift Shop on the Brac
‘Paws and Claws’, a thrift shop of the Brac Branch of the Humane Society, is located next to Sailboat Plaza. Clothing, household items, books and gift items available at very low prices, and sometimes furniture and building supplies are also donated. Opening times: Fridays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and Saturdays 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Call 948-2625 for more info.

Humane Society Thrift Shop’s Location
The Humane Society is upstairs at the shelter complex on North Sound Road, around the left hand side of the building and up the stairs. Opening times are Mon-Fri 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Saturday 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Clothes, housewares, sporting goods and more. Call 949-1461.

C.I. Humane Society Dog Walking Volunteer Drive
The Humane Society is always looking for volunteers to walk their dogs and puppies on Saturday and Wednesday mornings. No experience necessary, but must love dogs.
