The young players get a chance for a title
This year’s Kirk Office National Junior Squash Championships 2008 is being run slightly later than normal but remains very popular with the junior players. The schedule is this Thursday and Friday, 2-3 October, from 3:15 pm to 6:15 pm, and on Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, with the finals beginning at 2:00pm.
Taking place over three days, all players will take part in at least three matches to finally gain them a ranking in their division.
“This year we have the Beginners, Intermediates and Elite players all fighting it out to become the 2008 Champions,” says Dean Watson, tournament organizer and Youth Development Coach and Club Manager of South Sound Squash Club.
“Special thanks go to Kirk Office Equipment for again sponsoring the important event which continues to motivate and enhance the overall junior squash programme which has now seen its first junior enter the senior world rankings,” Watson added.
Alain Mudeen currently has a professional world ranking of 407. Mudeen played his first event in Chicago as a wild card and had the pleasure of playing David Palmer, the number one seed, and eventual finalist in the Sweet Home Chicago Open.
The South Sound Squash Club says it is looking forward to seeing all players take part from beginners to Cayman’s best. |
