Twenty cadets were rewarded for earning the Business and Technology Education Council’s (BTEC) first diplomas in public service. An international qualification equivalent to four GCEs, BTEC is administered through the UK Cadet Vocational Qualification Office.
The Cadet Corps members, including 16 cadets from Grand Cayman and four from Cayman Brac, recently received their diplomas from Portfolio of the Civil Service Chief Officer Mary Rodrigues.
Congratulating the youngsters, Mrs Rodrigues noted that by mixing theory and practical elements such as leadership, teamwork, communications, problem-solving and fitness training, the course had offered them many positive benefits.
She urged the cadets to use their studies as a stepping stone in the long journey of life and as an investment in their continued development.
Acting Corps Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel Bobeth O’Garro also congratulated the cadets on their hard work. Noting the BTEC’s increasing popularity, she said:
“The programme has grown over the years, from only five cadets at the first sitting to at least 16 each time.” |
