Sister Islands Hurricane Paloma postings

• Need to know of the safety of Dalkeith, Kimberly and their family. She is my daughter. Have tried many times; just get voicemail. Cayman Brac. - Pollyanna Gregg, Ohio

• Grand Cayman residents should be blessed that we were spared again from another dangerous hurricane, but Cayman Brac and Little Cayman were not so lucky. I think the people of Grand Cayman should band together and help our own people in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman in such a difficult time. We are blessed to not have any loss of life. God is so good to the Cayman people. I think we all forgot what we went through with Hurricane Ivan just four short years ago, and we went right back to being the same people that we were before Ivan; being caught up in our own little world, and ignore our own needing people around us. We have to now take this as a wakeup call and be the type of Caymanian people that we are known to be.

My parents instilled in me from the time I could understand that kindness is the most important virtue to have, and willingness to assist someone no matter how small is important, and that whatever you do, do it from your heart and just to not expect something in return. You don't have to have money to be able to help; you can also give of your time, which is just as important as money. I instilled this in my daughter and I hope that when she has kids that she will instill that in them also.

Caymanians, let’s get up and try and become the people that we were known for only a few years ago. Don't make Cayman become lost, let us keep Cayman the place that we grew up in, and not only let it come out in the face of adversity, but let us maintain it all the year round. To all my fellow Caymanians on Cayman Brac and Little Cayman, I wish you all the best and remember to pray to the one above, because he will guide us and will not give us anymore than we can bear. - Jenny Rivers

• Let's hope the people of the Brac are smarter than their fellow countrymen here on the mainland. Let’s see how many go out and buy brand new big gas guzzlers from Miami rather than rebuild their homes and infrastructure, like the people did after Ivan ripped though here. Forget about a place to live, just go to Miami and buy the biggest auto you can, and forget about rebuilding any homes, or buildings; good show, let's be stupid again. - Ralph Mission

• Hope everyone is okay on Little Cayman. Let us know what you need and I will post it on the websites here in the States. - Richard Humber

• I'm glad to hear from Maxine and that, despite the damage, they are doing well. I visit Little Cayman yearly, and have been seeing the McCoys since 2001. My best wishes to the hardy and steadfast residents of Little Cayman! - Marvin Gozum

• Can anyone tell me about the Spellman McLaughlin home across the street from the Government dock? Also the big house to the left of there. - Susan McLaughlin Wistrand

• Just to let everyone know that you are in our thoughts and we pray for you all. - David Peace

• How can we help? - Liz Swayne

• I am so glad everyone is okay. Cayman Brac is my hometown and I still have a lot of family there. God bless everyone and God speed! - Susan Wilson

• I remember my daddy and my aunts and uncles telling us about the '32 hurricane. I'm thankful that 76 years later they are in the arms of Jesus and didn't have to see this hurricane. My entire family hurts for our friends and family in Cayman Brac. We are anxious to get down there to not only fix the physical damage but to renew and encourage those that we have come to know and call 'friends' over the years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and we too, soon come. - Mark and Phelecia Leitch

• Our prayers and thoughts are with you all at the Brac and Little Cayman. We went through Ike two months ago, and we know you all will recover. We will see you soon! Mike, Michelle, and Cayman Jax. - Mike Cryer

General postings

‘An Obama victory could be bad news for the Cayman Islands’
It’s not the islands that are the problem. The Democratic Party knew of the banking and housing problems. They held back this information to win the election. Now the entire world has to pay for their greed. You can check all the voting records on line and you will see the truth. - Bill Howard

Noah’s Ark officially opened on Cayman Brac
I love the article on Noah’s Ark. But there was not one mention of the person that worked the hardest to put it all together and gave it all. Karen Fraser is to be thanked for all the love she put into this project. Great job, Karen! We love you. - Tim & Sande Eden, Pyramid House

Hospital saves life with new procedure
Well done, Cassie, keep up the great work! Your long time pardner, Baggy.
- Baggy Maharaj

New paediatric dermatology clinic
I found your web site on the internet. My name is Suzi Szabadi, mother of 3. I would like to ask your advice. My otherwise healthy 10 years old daughter has been diagnosed with Multiple Trichoepithelioma. We are looking for successful treatment for her condition. There are more lumps on her face now than last year and they are much more visible. Please be kind enough to let me know if there are any treatments or trial treatments available for this condition. Thank you! - Suzi Szabadi

Youth rehabilitation centre opens
Hi, Jackie, not sure if I have the right Jackie or not but my mom Marjorie Croft used to rep you and your sister (New Faces). I just happened to be looking online and saw this article... if you are who I think you are please e-mail me I would love to hear from your mom too! - Rhonda Croft

Capt Leroy Watson Regatta to become an annual event
Good luck from another LeRoy Watson, a miner and family man from Arizona. - LeRoy Watson

Kirk’s Supermarket gives backing to local football
Jesus gave His all, and it’s so nice to see kindhearted people following His example. - Mohan Ram

Cayman Airways Boosts Fleet
Wow, I didn’t realise how popular the turtle farm was! - Dror Ben Ami

Pirates Week Committee Welcome Message
Come on Dave! If you have such a wonderful festival, with 34 events, certainly you can come up with more to say about it than one paragraph! – PJ Kessler

Importing pets into the Cayman Islands
How anyone can judge all dogs by one is still beyond my belief. You do not ban a whole race because of one human, why ban a whole breed because of a stupid owner who keeps their dogs tied in the backyard? To ban an English Staffordshire bull terrier leaves me to think that even most vets do not know the nature of this dog (Google nanny dog and see what you will get). A dog well trained and always supervised and leashed when out poses no problem. - Rodney Walsh

Editorial: An open invitation to President-elect Barack Obama
As a friend and visitor of the lovely Cayman Islands for many years, I could not disagree more with this editorial. The newly elected president of the US is not what he seems, as many people will soon find out. He is a Socialist-Marxist, and will, if he can, ruin the US with his programs. Believe me; the Caymans will be affected by this, as we will no longer be able to afford to visit your lovely Island. He has admitted he would favor the Muslim faith, and the ramifications of this, on what was once a Christian nation will be catastrophic. God will not stand by and see his positions on abortion and homosexuality go unnoticed. Please do not bow at the feet of such a deceptive and ominous individual. We care about and love the Cayman people, and do not need the likes of Mr Obama to tell us what is good for us. He has mesmerised the population of the US, don’t let it happen to you. - Betty Schroeder, Sioux Falls, SD, USA
