Rotary Central Vice President

Two-time Grammy winner country music songwriter and singer Paul Overstreet will perform at the Rotary Central’s community fundraiser on Saturday, 29 November.

Known for his songs “Same Ole Me”, “Beautiful Baby”, “Love is strong” and “Christmas my favourite part of the year”, Mr Overstreet will perform at the Reef Grill at Royal Palms on the Seven Mile Beach.

Neville Smith, President of Rotary Central, appeals to the public to attend the concert in big numbers, not only for entertainment but to also support a worthy cause.

“This year’s event will be better than ever. We are delighted to welcome our performers and we know this will be another fabulous evening,” said Rotary Central Vice President Wil Pineau.

“By buying the ticket you also know that all proceeds will go straight back into the community.”

Now in its 13th year, the music extravaganza hopes to raise more money with proceeds earmarked for the recovery efforts in Cayman Brac and Little Cayman following the destruction of Hurricane Paloma.
Rotary Central also announced prizes to be won which include a top prize of $40,000 in a ticket raffle during the event.

The seller of the winning ticket will stand to win $4,000. Another 10 winners will share $50,000.

Tickets for the event cost $25 and are available from Rotary Central members, Funky Tangs, A.L Thompson’s and at supermarkets on Fridays and Saturdays.

“We would like to encourage everyone to show support for this event and, in doing so, support the various community events we have planned for the 2008/2009 year,” Mr Smith said.

“Our thanks go to the friends and partners in the community who help to sell tickets on behalf of the club.”

Rotary Central has been providing assistance to the community since 1986. The club provided relief after Hurricane Ivan, along with the other three Rotary clubs in the Cayman Islands in providing assistance to the needy after Hurricane Ivan in 2004. Rotary Central currently has over 60 members from various sectors of the community.
