CIIB Launches Toll Free Information Hotline

Published on Friday, November 21, 2008 Email To Friend    Print Version

Dr Dax Basdeo
CIIB Director

The Cayman Islands Investment Bureau (CIIB) has created a toll free hotline for small business owners in the Sister Islands.

Intended as a compre-hensive source of infor-mation for small business owners in the Sister Islands, the toll free number is 1 800 534 0004.

The idea for the hotline came about after a joint visit by the Ministry of Investment & Commerce and the CIIB to hurricane-ravaged Cayman Brac.

Minister for Investment and Commerce Hon Charles Clifford said:

“The need for timely and reliable information is paramount especially during times of crisis. The telephone system is one of the few reliable communication tools in the Paloma affected areas. By bringing together this diverse range of information, the CIIB is providing an extremely valuable service to the people of the Sister Islands. We can assure the people of Cayman Brac that the Investment Bureau will continue to look for innovative ways to service small businesses as well as the wider community.”

CIIB Director Dr Dax Basdeo said:

“The main objective of the hotline is to be able to answer a variety of questions from small business owners in the Sister Islands. This hotline provides a compilation of information from the CIIB as well as other agencies.”

Dr Basdeo said the CIIB has collated an extensive amount of useable data to assist residents on the Sister Islands.

When callers dial the toll-free hotline number, they will get a summary of the Cayman Islands Development Bank’s post-Paloma initiatives for small business owners as well as updates on the CIIB Sister Islands office.

Additional information available on the hotline will include initiatives from other lending institutions, vital information from Hazard Management and details on the restoration of utilities in the Sister Islands.

Information on upcoming recovery and insurance forums will also be posted on the hotline.
