Come out and taste the flavourful offerings.

On Saturday 22, November, from 5:00 pm till midnight, the 21st anniversary Taste of Cayman Food and Wine Festival at Camana Bay will feature live entertainment, fantastic fireworks courtesy of the Department of Tourism, and the opportunity to win grand prizes, including two VW Convertibles and Cayman Airways trips. The Taste of Cayman will truly have something for everyone with a wide array of elements including Cultural Displays at Cayman Court. The main Paseo at Camana Bay will become “Cayman Court” for one night. The Market at the Grounds will be bringing the market to Camana Bay including an ole time cook-off.

Who can make the best Heavy Cake?

Or The Best Hot Sauce?

On November 22nd at the Taste of Cayman Festival we’ll find out AND get the opportunity to try some of the local delicacies. Cayman Court will also feature Caribo’s Sausage, Cayman Traditional Arts, Cayman Taffy, Caymanian Traditions and Pepper Patch Jelly, to name a few.

Jasmine Court comes alive with Butterfield’s Kid’s Corner.

Butterfield is key sponsor of the event and is presenting this year’s Kid’s Corner. Jasmine Court at Camana Bay will transform into Butterfield Kid’s Corner and will be filled with many exciting activities such as mini tennis, airbrushing, face painting, jewelry making and even a blue iguana craft making activity!

The area will be centrally located around the interactive water feature, which is already famous with the little ones! This area will tie together the experience for the whole family by offering an outlet for kids to experience “The Taste” while enjoying all of their favorite elements.

The Butterfield Kid’s Corner will also feature ice cream from Dairy Queen, popcorn, snow cones and of course pizza. The only risk is the parents will likely have difficulty convincing their kids it’s time to leave…but make sure you stay long enough to see the fabulous fireworks!

Guests will be able to taste a wide variety of wines from around the world in a variety of settings. This year’s event will host more than 20 different vineyards featuring hundreds of exciting wines, with all proceeds benefiting the Cayman Islands Tourism Association charities. The main wine tasting area will be in Camana Bay’s Gardenia Court where tasting tables will line the perimeter. At the food tasting experience, along the Market Street, expect to see some of Cayman’s greatest chefs now offering a perfectly paired wine to accompany their culinary creations.

Each purchase will require Taste of Cayman drink tickets, which will be sold at the main gate and throughout the event. For convenience, there will be specially pre-packed envelopes with $50 of tickets, including two complimentary Taste of Cayman plastic wine tasting glasses. These glasses will be available for sale throughout the event as well for $5.00 and all guests are encouraged to buy one, as there will be no other wine glasses used.

“Hew’s Hotel & Restaurant Supplies have always been a supporter of Taste of Cayman, and this year we felt that with the ever increasing concern for the environment, that we should help to make Cayman’s largest food festival into a Green Event!” says Joey Hew.

The products include plates made from 100 percent sugarcane which are fully biodegradable; perfect for the Taste as after you use them simply toss them in the trash and feel good knowing they will naturally biodegrade.  PSM (plant starch material) compostable cutlery is made from non-GMO vegetable matter.  These utensils break down under commercial composting conditions in about 95 days, with 100% degradation occurring over a slightly longer period of time.

“We are excited to announce that Hew’s Hotel & Restaurant Supplies will donate all of the “Green Ware” products from their local inventory,” says Trina Christian, Executive Director. “It was a goal identified from the very beginning to make greener choices for this event and it’s the consistent small steps that end up making a big difference.”

All proceeds from Taste of Cayman benefit the Lighthouse School, the Pines Retirement Home and many other local charities. In addition, the event raises money for the Cayman Islands Tourism Association Scholarship Fund, which assists Caymanians to pursue a career in the tourism industry.

Tickets for the Food and Wine Festival at Camana Bay are now on sale for $40 prepaid or $50 at the gate, which gives patrons admission and entry into the raffle. Admission only tickets are $25 each for adults and $10 for kids under 12. Children under six are free. For more information please call 949-8522 or visit www.tasteofcayman.com.ky.
