His Excellency the Governor Stuart Jack and Minister of Health Hon Anthony Eden joined with four young Red Cross volunteers to mark 1 December as World AIDS Day by launching a special calendar.

Joining forces with local photographer, Chuck Bishop, Red Cross Programmes Manager Carolina Ferreira, produced a 2009 calendar featuring six posters, which will be made available to the public during the week of 1 December. The posters are part of the “HIV+ until proven negative” campaign.

“Our aim is to get this calendar in every business, in every school, school, church and home,” she said. “Not only is it useful for your day-to-day needs, but it also lists in red the free testing days which are being offered by Public Health Department here in Cayman as a reminder of the importance of being tested,” she added.

The calendar, which is free, will be available for distribution on Monday, 1 December from 12:00 pm till 2:00 pm outside Scotiabank in George Town, and from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at Foster’s Food Fair at the Strand and Countryside Shopping Village, and Hurley’s in Grand Harbour.

On Wednesday, 3 December, the calendar will again be available from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at Hurley’s.

On Friday, 5 December, the calendar can be picked up from noon till 2:00 pm outside Scotiabank in George Town, and from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm at Foster’s in The Strand and Countryside, and Hurley’s.

The calendar will also be available all week at the Cayman Islands Red Cross office. For more information, call 949-6785, extension 27.
