Want to be different and make your wedding unique?

Here are 10 top tips on how to personalise your wedding!

Invitations
As this is the first glimpse into the style and tone of the wedding, you could make sure that it reflects something of your individuality. This could be in the choice of paper, colour or style of presentation.

Order of service
It is becoming increasingly popular to have a personalised Order of Service booklet. This usually explains the meaning and symbolism of different parts of the ceremony. If the location where the wedding is taking place is significant, you could explain this, as well as any special personal aspect, such as vows you have specially written.

Engraving
Having a message engraved inside an engagement or wedding ring helps make it even more special. It can be a single word, a name, a religious blessing, something fun between you as a couple or a line from your favourite poem.

Borrow a tradition
Choose from a variety of wedding customs from around the world to add a personal touch to your ceremony or celebrations. Whether it is a candle ceremony where a large candle is lit together by the bride and groom, smashing dinner plates?(may be expensive!) Or planting a tree/favourite flowers, it’s sure to make your wedding even more personal and unique.

Monogram
Commemorate your big day by embroidering your lehenga with the wedding date, your initials or a piece of poetry. Include the groom’s initials or name in the henna pattern. Traditionally, brides had it cleverly hidden in the design and the groom had to discover it on the wedding night! (sound’s like fun!)

Table names
Choose a theme for the tables that relates to an interest in your lives. Instead of giving tables numbers, give them names. For instance, you could have a theme of places /countries you have visited together as a couple, or how about naming them after towns or beaches where you live! Another good way is by having table colours instead of numbers!

Favours
Choose a favour that reflects your personal style. Favours can really be anything that you want your guests to take away with them. South Asian favours include pretty boxes, silver plated objects representing an aspect of the wedding or sweet treats. Scottish favours would be a miniature whisky for the men and sugared almonds for the women.

Cakes
You don’t have to go for a standard 3-tiered white icing cake. You can have a colour, design or element from your wedding theme incorporated into your cake; whether it is a cake topper to represent couple or a detail from the wedding dress or even relating to your honeymoon destination! – You decide!

Guest Books
You can customise a guest book to complement your theme. Use sari fabric, brocade or decorative ribbon or dried flowers and create something that is uniquely personal and memorable.

Individual message cards
An alternative to a traditional guest book is to provide individual small cards and envelopes for the guests to fill with messages and words of wisdom for your life together. Another memorable keepsake of your special day and something to look forward to reading when you return from your honeymoon and in the years ahead!
