The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) has launched an Internet job board for posting vacancies and job hunting.

UCCI stated in a media release that the UCCI Job Board was the vision of Director of Student Services, Mary Anne Cannon. She said, “All universities have a quiver full of employment locater services. As the leader of tertiary education in these islands we want to offer useful and valued services to our students and the wider community.”

The UCCI Job Board’s primary focus is to assist students with job placements; whether temporary, part-time or full-time. It’s also a fringe benefit to the wider community who can access the site. Employers are using it because it gives them an alternate and cost effective venue for posting jobs in a public forum; an immigration requirement for vetting local jobs.

UCCI Webmaster, Kevin Hudson explains, “We are trying to make the UCCI Job Board as user friendly as possible. It’s our goal that once an employer sets up their initial account, posting and reviewing job applications will be as easy as checking email. We are available to provide as much help and support as the employers require, but the website is designed to be easy enough that employers will be able to post, edit, and remove their postings 24 hours a day.”

Mary Anne says that without Kevin, the vision for the UCCI Job Board would not have taken shape. “He’s been very busy responding to e-mails from interested employers, making sure employers and students receive excellent customer care and, working his special magic on the site.”

An employer can simply visit the UCCI Job Board site click on the POST A JOB link, and then click JOIN NOW. After filling out the required information their account is created. Once payment is confirmed, the employer’s account is unlocked, and then they are free to post as many Standard Posts as they choose. While this is a great advertising tool for employers, it is an even greater advantage to UCCI’s students, and the Cayman Islands community. Students and guests can browse the jobs on the site for free, and if they create a user account, they can even post their resumes online for employers to view.

Mary Anne says, “Regardless of any economic circumstance there will always be job opportunities at various tiers in the marketplace and our aim is to link the seekers with a source.”
