Civil Aviation Authority hosts directors meeting

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI) recently hosted the 10th Meeting of the Directors of Civil Aviation of the Central Caribbean on 18-21 August , 2009 at the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman.

The meeting was held under the auspices of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to discuss matters relevant to enhancing aviation security, air transport operations and the safety of air navigation services throughout the region.

The then Acting Leader of Government Business, Hon Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, welcomed the delegates and highlighted the importance of aviation to the Cayman Islands and the region as it directly supports the tourism and financial industries. The meeting was officially opened by H.E the Governor, Stuart Jack, who acknowledged the importance of such meetings for the continued development of safe and secure aviation.

Participants included Directors of Civil Aviation and representatives from Aruba, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Netherland Antilles, Turks & Caicos Islands, and the USA, as well as representatives from the ICAO Mexico regional office and Montreal headquarters, the Central American Corporation for Air Navigation Services (COCESNA) and ARINC Incorporated (Global provider of transportation communications and systems engineering services).
