The 13th Annual Trade and Investment Conference was held during the 8 – 11 of September 2009 in Xiamen, China. The conference, which was attended by approximately 25,000 delegates from all corners of the globe, was designed to showcase and facilitate Chinese inward and outward investment.
Cayman mutual funds and investment structures represent a noteworthy portion of inward investment into China and so Benjamin Wrench and Wilton McDonald from Higgs Johnson Truman Bodden & Co attended the conference with a number of other individuals from the Cayman Islands including Rex Rankine of RBR Director Services. After the conference some delegates from Cayman and the US flew to Beijing for a series of meetings with the China Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA) and the Ministry of Commerce. China is becoming an increasingly important powerhouse in the global economy and is continuing to develop its links with the Caribbean. |
