As a result of the recently announced public holiday on Friday, 6 November to mark the coming into force of the new Constitution, the Cayman Islands will enjoy a four-day weekend when coupled with the customary Remembrance Day holiday, which falls on Monday 9 November this year.
However, some feel that in the current economic crisis it was inappropriate to reduce productivity even further by means of the additional holiday and, in fact, a majority of our local readers appear to support that point of view, albeit by a small margin.
In the latest Cayman Net News online poll we asked the question “Do you think a second public holiday in November is necessary in the current economic situation?”
A total of 354 readers responded using internet devices located in the Cayman Islands, of whom 181 readers (51.1 percent) answered no; 158 readers (44.6 percent) answered yes; and 15 (4.2 percent) said they didn’t know.
