Cannonball found in Little Cayman

Published on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 Email To Friend    Print Version

This cannonball was found in Little Cayman by Dervyn Scott

On Thursday 22nd October a cannonball was found by Dervyn Scott in Little Cayman. Mr. Scott noticed the rusty solid projectile while he was preparing the ground for the construction of a new road. The cannonball measures 4” in diameter and weighs approximately 7 pounds. It seems to be a leftover from the pirates’ days and its age is estimated at 350-400 years old.

“I know a lot of places where I found wreckage of pirate ships in Little Cayman. If I would get the permission from the government, I could try to locate many treasures both from land and sea,” Mr. Scott explained. He added that he will donate the cannonball to the Little Cayman Museum.
