The brave Cayman Islands National U-17 girls were placed second in Group A of the CFU World Cup qualifying tournament last Friday evening when they lost 1-0 to tough Haiti before a crowd of over twenty thousand spectators in the Sylvio Cator Stadium in Port-Au-Prince Haiti.
The girls outplayed the Haitians during the first half’ taking shots at goal and forcing the Haitian goalkeeper to perform for the first time in the competition. This half ended 0-0.
When they game resumed in the second half both teams went into early attacks and in the 58th minute Yolande Merone of Haiti slipped one into the back of the net to end the game 1-0. |
