A leading broadcasting organisation has joined forces with Queen II Elizabeth Botanic Park and law enforcement agencies to find those responsible for the death of six endangered blue iguanas.

DMS Broadcasting is appealing to the public to help bring to justice the culprits of last weekend’s crime. The company is offering $5,000 to anyone with information, which leads a conviction for this crime.

Unknown persons late Saturday evening (3 May) killed the six critically endangered Grand Cayman blue iguanas at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park.

“We are outraged by this despicable crime against these much-loved native animals,” said Don Seymour, President of DMS Organization, the parent body of DMS Broadcasting.

“We are saddened to think that someone in our community is capable of such senseless violence and we would like to ensure they are brought to justice.”

As well as the reward being offered, on Tuesday morning, 6 May all four of DMS Broadcasting’s stations heightened awareness on the crime by hosting Fred Burton, Director of the National Blue Recovery Program, to discuss this past weekend’s event.

In addition to supporting the Blue Iguana Recovery Program, DMS Broadcasting has a long-standing relationship with 911 Animal Emergency whereby 96.5 Cayrock hosts a weekly segment which is committed to orchestrating adoptions of homeless cats and dogs on the Island.

Commented Morning Show Host Ben Maxwell, “It is our prerogative to lend a voice for animal protection groups whenever we can. We provide our support by offering an active voice to these causes, as well as supporting events that raise money for these causes, such as with the recent Blue Moon event which also benefited the Blue Iguana Recovery Program.”

“We are urging anyone with information to come forward. We want to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice and deter any further crimes of this nature from ever occurring again,” said DMS Broadcasting’s Network Promotions and Marketing Manager Phil Vinciullo.
