Head of the Burns Conolly Group, Burns Conolly, says his company is taking legal advice with a view to seeking damages against the Auditor General’s Office for a critical report on the Royal Watler Cruise Terminal.

The report, which was released in 2006, pointed to a questionable contract tendering process and possible overcharging by the contractors Misener Marine Corporation and Hurlstone Ltd. The Burns Conolly Group was contracted as Project Manager for the port development.

In an exclusive interview with Cayman Net News in May 2006, the Burns Conolly Group official said the 60-page report contained inaccuracies, poor assumptions and illogical conclusions.

Another area of concern to Mr Conolly is this statement in the report: “The Project Manager did not consult the Port Authority for change request.”

In a press release on Wednesday, the Burns Conolly Group also called on H.E the Governor Stuart Jack to investigate Auditor General Dan Duguay in light of recent hearings held by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

“In the light of the report attached and the documentation provided to the PAC, the Burns Conolly Group hopes that the Governor of the Cayman Islands, under the remit of ‘good governance’, will now investigate Mr Duquay, the operation of his office, Mr Hurlston’s supporting memo and the creation of this Special Report,” the Group said in the press release.
