Family Fun Day at the Mission House
The National Trust will be having a Family Fun Day at the Mission House on Saturday 10 May from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at 63 Gun Square, Bodden Town (1st left after BT Post Office). Generation NOW presentations
Generation NOW presentations are held every Saturday at the Family Life Centre, located just off Walker’s Road from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.
 The theme for the month of May 2008 is “Crime in our Society”. The presentation for this coming Saturday, 10 May will highlight  “The Causes of Crime in Society”. This topic will be presented by Dr. Anthony White.

Cayman Kayak Fundraiser “Day for the Trust”, (including Moonlight Tour)
Join Cayman Kayaks in a one-day fundraiser for the National Trust in support of their efforts to preserve biodiversity in the Cayman Islands on Sunday 11 May. Four tours will be offered during the day and evening into the Northern portion of the Central Wetlands of Grand Cayman at 9:00 am; 1:00 pm; 5:00 pm; and 7:30 pm (Moonlight Tour).
The cost of the tour will be CI$30 per person and for a $5.00 donation to the Trust interested persons will be entered to win a new Wilderness Tarpon T130 Tandem kayak with two paddles donated by Harbour House Marina. Free parvovirus vaccinations for all dogs and puppies
Cayman Islands Humane Society with Island Veterinary Services are offering free parvovirus vaccinations for all dogs and puppies on the island.
The free clinic will take place on 18 May and 1 June from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Island Veterinary Services, Eden Centre, Walkers Road. All dogs must be kept on a leash.
The Society urges everyone who has not had their pet vaccinated to attend and help combat the spread of this deadly virus, whilst keeping your own pet safe.

Business & Professional Women’s Club Meetings
The Business and Professional Women’s Club of Grand Cayman meets every 3rd Monday of the month, however in recognition of the Public Holidays in May and June (Discovery Day and Queen’s Birthday) these meeting dates will be held on Wednesday, 21 May (the next meeting) and Wednesday, 18 June.   All meetings will be held at 6:00 pm in the Governor’s Square Boardroom (second floor over Weststar).   For further information please e-mail bpwgrandcayman@gmail.com

Children’s Books Needed
The Early Childhood Services Unit and National Parenting Programme is urging the public to donate gently used or new children’s books to the Week of the Young Child’s Book Drive until Saturday 31 May. Book drive drop-off boxes are located at: Books and Books at Camana Bay, Hobbies and Books in Grand Harbour and Piccadilly Square, George Town, Bodden Town and East End libraries.

Cayman Wildlife Rescue Meeting
Cayman Wildlife Rescue meets the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 at the National Trust Offices in Dart Park on South Church Street.  For more information on Cayman Wildlife Rescue or to report a Wildlife Emergency call their Hotline 917-BIRD (2473) or visit their website at  www.caymanwidliferescue.org

Cayman Wildlife Rescue Volunteer Programme
Cayman Wildlife Rescue is a programme of the National Trust for the Cayman Islands.  This project is staffed entirely by volunteers with other full time jobs, and is financed 100% by donations from the public. Conch and Whelk Season Closes 
Conch and whelk-taking season has ended. Department of Environment officials accordingly remind the public that anyone found guilty of violating the law is ­liable to a maximum penalty of CI$500,000 and one year in jail. The open season for whelk and conch runs from 1 November to 30 April each year.  For more information visit www.gov.ky/doe or call 949-8469.

Cayman Islands Reading Aides Program at Northward Prison
Volunteers are needed for the CIRA program at HMP Northward on a Wednesday afternoon from 1:15 till 3:45.  If interested please contact Michelle on 925-2624 (please note changed number).

Bottle Crusher for Recycling at National Trust
The National Trust informs the public that they have recycled glass for sale (CI$1 a tub) which can be used for filling in driveways, under tarmac etc. Those interested in seeing demonstrations are invited to visit the Visitor’s Centre at Dart Park, South Sound, from Mondays – Friday, at 10:00 am and 4:00 pm.
They ask that people bring clean empty bottles for recycling and “help us help you recycle!”

Used Stamps
The National Trust is also collecting used stamps.  Just drop them off at the Visitor’s Centre at the Dart Park or Mission House.

‘Paws and Claws’ Thrift Shop on the Brac
‘Paws and Claws’, a thrift shop of the Brac Branch of the Humane Society, is located next to Sailboat Plaza. Clothing, household items, books and gift items available at very low prices, and sometimes furniture and building supplies are also donated. Opening times: Fridays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and Saturdays 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Call 948-2625 for more info.

Humane Society Thrift Shop Has Moved!
The Humane Society has relocated upstairs at the shelter complex on North Sound Road, around the left hand side of the building and up the stairs! New opening times are Mon-Fri 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Saturday 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Clothes, housewares, sporting goods and more. Call 949-1461.

Market at the Grounds, Lower Valley
All are reminded that the farmers’ and artisans’ market located at the Stacy Watler Agricultural Pavilion in Lower Valley, is open every Saturday from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. Locally grown produce, baked goods, arts and crafts etc are all available. Anyone also interested in becoming a vendor at the Market is asked to contact Gina Bodden at the Department of Agriculture at 947-3090.

C.I. Humane Society Dog Walking Volunteer Drive
The Humane Society is looking for volunteers to walk their dogs and puppies on Saturday and Wednesday mornings. No experience necessary, but you must love dogs! The Consular Section of the US Embassy in Jamaica has opened up visa renewal appointments for persons holding a ten-year, multiple-entry visa with an expiration date to 7 March 2009.
