The Cayman Islands Airport Authority (CIAA) is searching for a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) after David Frederick retired from the post on Wednesday, 7 May.
Senior Manager at the CIAA’s Meteorological Office, Fred Sambula, will act as CEO in the interim, the CIAA said, and that the recruitment process is already in motion.
Mr Frederick, the CIAA said, is leaving in pursuit of a number of personal interests, including assisting his mother with the family business in Bodden Town.
“During this time it has been my honour to be a part of the Cayman Islands Airport Authority, and to work towards the redevelopment of Owen Roberts International Airport as an internationally regulated port,” he said.
In making the official announcement, Chairman of the Board, Harding Watler, stated:
“The Board of Directors wishes Mr Frederick all the best with his future endeavours, and recognises his significant contribution to both the development of the Airports Authority and Cayman’s travel industry as a whole.”
Mr Frederick expressed his sincere appreciation to the Board of Directors, the people of the Cayman Islands, and the CIAA staff, for their support over the years.
He joined the Government service in August 1974 with the then Department of Civil Aviation, and in July 2004 he became the first CEO of the Cayman Islands Airports Authority.
During his tenure, he oversaw the planning and current redevelopment of Owen Roberts International Airport in Grand Cayman. |
