Self Help Foundation assisting students

Published on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 Email To Friend    Print Version

(L-R): Tiffany Ebanks, UCCI student; Self Help CEO JC Connor; and Mikhail McLaughlin,
UCCI student.

Mikhail McLaughlin and Tiffany Ebanks are recipients of the New Self Help Community Foundation Scholarship assistance to attend the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI).

They approached the New Self Help Community Foundation to assist them with school fees for the summer after participating in several of the Foundation’s Talent Exposition of the Arts, the organisation said.

Mikhail and Tiffany graduated from John Gray High School in 2007 and their pursuit of higher learning would be very empowering and challenging to them both.

Self Help Foundation CEO JC Connor said his organisation is delighted to assist young people.

“The foundation’s main goal is to help youth of today develop a sense of self-worth and help them recognize their full potential. This scholarship was part of the Youth Empowerment Programme of the NSHCF,” he said.

“We hope that by recognising the needs of our young people and helping them reach their full potential, more young persons in our society will achieve success.”

The Foundation said it is extremely grateful to all of its sponsors and donors, and especially the Ministry of Education, Training, Employment, Youth, Sports and Culture who assisted in funding its programmes.

Last year, the New Self-Help Community Foundation assisted Evana Martinez with its second scholarship.
