The Cayman Islands Scouts Association is reviving a once popular Cayman Islands pastime with the staging of its annual kite extravaganza on Saturday, 7 June at the Jay Bodden Marl Pit on Sparky Drive, behind CUC Headquarters.
The event will be held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. and is being organised as a family fun day. Parents are encouraged to bring their children out to participate. There will be a variety of prizes, including for unique kites; first kite up; the highest flying; best home-made and biggest and smallest kites.
In addition to maintaining the kiting tradition in Cayman, the scouts aim to raise funds from the event to support their programmes for young people.
“This is one of our important annual events that bring the scouting community together and I appeal to everyone to come out, enjoy a day of kiting and support the many boys and girls whose lives are being influenced in a positive way by scouting,” Executive Commissioner of Scouts, Winston Hayle, said.
Entry fees for kite flying are $5 for children and $10 for adults. |
