Published on Friday, May 16, 2008 Email To Friend    Print Version

Jacob Scott

Eleven-year-old Jacob Scott attends the Spot Bay Primary School and was crowned Champion Boy at the Lions annual swim meet held on Saturday, 3 May. Jacob is an honor roll year six student at the Spot Bay Primary School where he enjoys all kinds of sporting activities including swimming, soccer, high jump & basketball.

He is a member/athlete of the Sports Association of the Sister Islands and a soccer player for the Cayman Brac 14 & under Football Club playing in the forward position. He has been swimming since the age of three and with his many abilities he travels to Grand Cayman frequently to compete in swimming and soccer competitions.

To improve on his talent and capabilities, Jacob will be attending soccer and swimming camps this summer in Florida as his desire is to improve on his talents and to compete as a top athlete in the future.

He was a participant last month in the Brac annual half-mile sea swim placing 34th out of 52 swimmers. “The sea swim and previous pool was just conditioning my body for the big Lion’s Meet as I know my capabilities and how to capitalize on my weak areas, so being placed 34th did not de-motivate me,” he said.

An aspiring actor, dancer and musician, he is the 2007 Festival of the Arts steel drum solo silver medalist, a singer and drummer in the Hillside Church music ministry, and he recently played a small role in the movie ‘Caymanwent’. His talent far exceeds his age, explained hi mother Derrylee Martin, as she expressed that she and his father Clem are extremely proud of his achievements so far.
