Jamaican born Gregory ‘Anthony Ricardo’ Watt will be having a Vocal Explosion for a Video Shoot scheduled to take place this Discovery Day holiday, Monday 19 May, beginning at 10:00 pm at Pepper’s Night Club’s Round Robin.
Everyone is invited on the Set, where some of Cayman’s Recording Stars such as Daddy Stu, Ali B, Lady Wassy, Okonko, Denval and several others will be doing live performances in-between Shoots.
Asked why he’s having this event, the singer Anthony Ricardo, who uses his middle names as Stage name, said, “Music in Cayman has great untapped potential and needs the Artistes to be more committed and proactive in producing and promoting their work. Proper promotion can definitely go a long way in selling a product. I would like to introduce a new perspective to aspiring Artistes like myself in Cayman, hence my elaborate presentation,” said the artiste.
Anthony Ricardo also stated that for the past three months a song entitled “Pretty, Cute Face” has been blazing trails on three major stations, Radio Cayman, Vibes fm and Hot 104.1fm. “Listen to the song before you start bouncing pon de riddim, Anthony advises. “The song is poetically lyrical, with quips like “I want you to be my forever valentine, I want to love you like I’m running out of time’. This is saying, I wish for our love to last forever, still I will love you with great intensity and urgency, as if I am running out of time.
“The song was written for one lady who was my significant other at the time. The plan was to record it and then let her hear it for the first time on radio. However, we broke up before that dream could have come through. We broke up whilst still being in love – yes, people can still be in love and break up – that’s love. Love is complicated, with twists and turns, but at the end of the road, it’s still love. I wound up letting her hear it on the phone after it was recorded. She loved it,” he added.
Anthony said that the song, however, has not yet been released to the world. The Video Shoot for the song is scheduled to be shot on Discovery Day and he hopes to release the Single and Video in Jamaica shortly afterwards.
He said that “Pretty, Cute Face”, however, was not the first song to be recorded by him. The first was a Cover version of the Pussy Cat Dolls’ “Stickwithu”. This was done on King Jammy’s Head-to-toe Rhythm. Whilst actively gearing up to promote “Pretty, Cute Face” however, he has his sights set on recording another song entitled “Bad Booty”.
He is thankful to his sponsors, Yardman Music, Habana Café`, Video Library, Real Wood Cabinets, Touch & Glow Mobile Salon, Shop Smart, Crave Clothing for helping to make this dream possible. “I am doing this, not just for myself, but for Cayman too; for the people who make music and the people who love music,” Ricardo stated. |
