With its first dynamic children’s book series based on the Caymanian heritage due for release in Fall 2008, ContessaBlack Publishing & Media Corp. Ltd is poised to diversify children’s literature and transform the multicultural children’s book industry. ContessaBlack Publishing & Media creates and markets exceptional multicultural, family-based properties that promote the richness and enchantment of diversity.
There will be three imprints within the newly created publishing company. The Bluff Books imprint will produce dynamic Caribbean children’s brands, the first of which will feature a premiere children’s series based on the Caymanian heritage.
This series will be launched with easy readers and early chapter books accompanied by lesson plans for teacher’s resources. Combining rhyme, humour, masterful storytelling, enchanting Caribbean culture and dialect, Bluff Books is set to dramatically enter the multicultural children’s book market with titles that are unique, entertaining and authentic.
A second imprint, Green Boy Books, will function as the premier multimedia publisher of innovative titles for Muslim children, globally. Jade, the third imprint, is aimed specifically at ContessaBlack’s adult readers, publishing women’s self-development, inspirational, health and fitness, lifestyle and poetry titles.
This dynamic new company is the mastermind of visionary entrepreneur, and Cayman Brac native, Lady Rabia Abdul-Hakim, the creative genius behind other iconic projects in Saudi Arabia.
“ContessaBlack is not just in the book publishing business. We recognize that books need to be wildly entertaining to captivate and motivate children to read. So we consider ContessaBlack an edutainment company,” said Lady Rabia, President and CEO.
A socially conscious company, ContessaBlack is also one of the first Caribbean publishers striving to lower its eco-footprint and impact on the environment. The company is also keen to highlight its boarder mission of fighting discrimination and promoting diversity.
“We staunchly believe that books can break down barriers,” she said.
“Storytelling is still the most powerful and persuasive kind of communication. We are proud to publish entertaining, innovative titles that promote diversity and equally delighted to do so by way of our heritage. We are very excited to bring such a valuable contribution to the marketplace.”
Gearing up to become a major player in the multicultural children’s book industry, ContessaBlack is planning to publish five to 10 titles each year from its book-based character brands and translate these into media and consumer product brands. |
