John Gray High School’s Family Fun Run/Walk
John Gray High School (JGHS) will be having a Family Fun 2-mile Run/Walk on Saturday 7 June from 7:00 am. Start/Finish – John Gray High. Registration Fee: Adults CI$10.00; Children under 12 years: CI$5.00. T-shirts for the first 300 participants. First Assembly of God Church’s ‘Soldiers of the Light’ youth group holds Garage Sale and Car Wash
The First Assembly of God’s youth group Soldiers of the Light will be having a garage sale and car wash on Saturday 7 June in the church’s car park, 195 Old Crewe Road (off Linford Pierson Highway). Garage Sale from 6:30 am until 10:00 am and Car Wash follows right afterwards until 5:00 pm. All funds will go towards the Soldiers of the Light production ‘Metamorphosis II’ which will be held on Friday 18 July. Triple C School Alumni Association hosts Reunion Picnic
Triple C School Alumni Association will host an Alumni Reunion Picnic at the Seven Mile Public Beach on Saturday 7 June 10:00 am – 3:00 pm and the Association says that any and all former students are invited to the reunion to come out and share a few hours with fellow schoolmates in a time of reminiscing as they welcome back one of the Founders of the School. The Cayman Islands Diabetes Association’s Monthly Meeting
The Cayman Islands Diabetes Association would like to invite everyone to their Monthly meeting on Wednesday 4 June at 6:00 pm at the Woman’s Health Centre, George Town Hospital.
Guest Speaker will be Dr. Mathews on “Managing your Diabetes”.

International Ladies’ Club’s Monthly Coffee Morning

Business & Professional Women’s Club Meetings

The Cayman Islands Museum’s gift shop will be closed on Saturdays.  The Museum’s gift shop, located in Panton House, will serve the public Mondays to Fridays.

Conch and Whelk Season Closes
Conch and whelk-taking season has ended. Department of Environment officials accordingly remind the public that anyone found guilty of violating the law is ­liable to a maximum penalty of CI$500,000 and one year in jail. The open season for whelk and conch runs from 1 November to 30 April each year. For more information visit www.gov.ky/doe or call 949-8469.

Cayman Islands Reading Aides Program at Northward Prison
Volunteers are needed for the CIRA program at HMP Northward on a Wednesday afternoon from 1:15 till 3:45. If interested please contact Michelle on 925-2624 (please note changed number).

Used Stamps
The National Trust is also collecting used stamps. Just drop them off at the Visitor’s Centre at the Dart Park or Mission House.

‘Paws and Claws’ Thrift Shop on the Brac
‘Paws and Claws’, a thrift shop of the Brac Branch of the Humane Society, is located next to Sailboat Plaza. Clothing, household items, books and gift items available at very low prices, and sometimes furniture and building supplies are also donated. Opening times: Fridays from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and Saturdays 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Call 948-2625 for more info.

Humane Society Thrift Shop Has Moved!
The Humane Society has relocated upstairs at the shelter complex on North Sound Road, around the left hand side of the building and up the stairs! New opening times are Mon-Fri 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Saturday 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Clothes, housewares, sporting goods and more. Call 949-1461.

Market at the Grounds, Lower Valley
All are reminded that the farmers’ and artisans’ market located at the Stacy Watler Agricultural Pavilion in Lower Valley, is open every Saturday from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm. Locally grown produce, baked goods, arts and crafts etc are all available. Anyone also interested in becoming a vendor at the Market is asked to contact Gina Bodden at the Department of Agriculture at 947-3090.

C.I. Humane Society Dog Walking Volunteer Drive
The Humane Society is looking for volunteers to walk their dogs and puppies on Saturday and Wednesday mornings. No experience necessary, but you must love dogs! US Embassy Appointments
The Consular Section of the US Embassy in Jamaica has opened up visa renewal appointments for persons holding a ten-year, multiple-entry visa with an expiration date to 7 March 2009. Applicants must pay their fee and schedule their appointments online through the usual system at https://evisaforms.state.gove/default.asp?postcode=KNG&appcode=3.

UCCI Library
The UCCI Library is open Mondays to Fridays 8:00 am – 7:30 pm and Saturdays 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Persons of the community who are interested can become members of the library. There is an application fee of $25 for non-students.
For persons who wish to borrow books, there is a refundable deposit of $100. Persons are welcome to come and just sit down and read if they prefer to.

Cayman Islands Public Library Book Club

Kiwanis Club

Cayman Wildlife Rescue Meeting
Cayman Wildlife Rescue meets the first Thursday of every month at 6:30 at the National Trust Offices in Dart Park on South Church Street. New members are welcome and training is provided. This project is staffed entirely by volunteers with other full time jobs, and is financed 100 per cent by donations from the public. Anyone who would like to help by donating funds or volunteering time please contact Alison Corbett at caymanwildliferescue@gmail.com or Catherine Redfern at 925-0305.

Public Service Pensions Board
The Public Service Pensions Board (“PSPB”) would like to inform its valuable clients that a new telephone system has been implemented to link its two offices. As a result of this change, the PSPB will no longer be accessible through the main Government Administration Building telephone number, 949-7900, or the Government network. However, the PSPB can continue to be contacted through its switchboard at 945-8175 where the receptionist will route calls accordingly.
Please note that direct extensions are published on their website located at www.gov.ky/pspb.

The St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine
The St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine has a website that is a joint effort by the Department of Agriculture and the School that shows all the dogs that have been picked up and are at the government shelter. This website will allow owners that have lost pets to search the website for their lost pet. The website is http://smustudents.org. Please call 324-1636 for more information.

The Mission House and Visitors Centre
A historic site of The National Trust for The Cayman Islands is open year round and offers guided tours of the house and grounds. There is also a National Trust shop offering a variety of gifts, toys and locally made artefacts. Opening hours are Tuesday- Saturday, 9:00 am- 5:30 pm, last tour at 4:30 pm. Admission to Mission House: Adults-CI$5.00, Children (under 12) - CI$2.50. Mission House is located at 63 Gun Square Road, Bodden Town. Cayman Brac Adult Art Group and other events
Each Saturday from 9:00 am to 12 noon the National Gallery Cayman Islands hosts an informal ‘meet and paint’ adult group off artists that meets to paint at beautiful locations around the island. All types of artists and visitors are welcome.
Also every Wednesday the Brac’s senior citizens meet in morning and afternoon groups to catch up and paint. On the last Saturday of each month enjoy a documentary video on a Cayman Islands resident held at the Brac Library from 7:00 – 8:00 pm.

Grief Recovery Group

The First Assembly of God Youth Meetings
The First Assembly of God church, located at 195 Old Crewe Road in George Town invites girls aged three to 16 to come to Missionettes, Fridays at 6:30 pm. On Saturdays at 2:30 pm there is Kingdom Blocks, this caters to boys and girls of all ages. For more information call 945-2182.

Little Cayman Art Lecture Series
Each Monday an art lecture is held at 3:00 pm at the National Trust Visitor Centre. Watch a documentary on Native Sons members and other island resident artists. Admission free. Art Magnet

The National Gallery’s Walkers Art Club

Cayman Islands Postal Service Saturday hours
The Cayman Islands Postal Service (CIPS) reminds the public that post offices are open on Saturdays between 9:00 am and 12:30 pm on Grand Cayman. Please note that H.M. Customs is closed at 12 noon on Saturdays at the Airport Post Office for parcel collection. Cayman Brac’s Saturday post office hours are 9:00 am to 11:30 am, and Little Cayman’s are 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
The CIPS is also reminding residents that Saturday is an ideal time to stop by the post office to take advantage of CIPS’s growing list of Value-Added Services. Customers can pay their CUC electrical bills, garbage collection fees, and phone bills at most post offices on Grand Cayman.
They can also top up their pay-as-you-go Digicel and Cable & Wireless cell phones at most post offices on all three Islands while Cayman Brac residents can pay for their CINICO insurance at the West End Post Office.
