Miss Teen Cayman 2007/2008, Yentel Akira McGaw has done the island proud yet once again, this time taking home the Miss Teen Worldwide Caribbean prize at the finals of the Miss Teen Worldwide Pageant International World, held at the HCU Convention Centre in Freeport, Trinidad, on 21, June.

Placing a respectable third in the overall competition, McGaw expresses of her experience, “I am the second runner up, and am happy I was given the opportunity to be part of something so great. The other girls and I were like sisters, I made a lot of new friends”.

This years delegates included Akemo Giura Guanilo, of Peru; Paisley McNab, of Canada; Uju Vera Okwukang, of Nigeria; Gabriele Frietas, of Curacao; Lisa Maria Smith, of the United Kingdom; Shakeila Bellamy, of Barbados; Victoria Megan Hughes, of South Africa; Noelle Freeman, United States; Valerie Rigaud, Haiti; Charlene Mercado Millan, of Puerto Rico and Malika Grayson, of Trinidad and Tobago.
On the brink of relinquishing the Miss Teen Cayman crown in August, McGaw conveys, “I have had a phenomenal year being Miss Teen Cayman and I hope my successor will have as much of a blast as I have.”

Recently graduated from John Gray High School, McGaw continues to welcome the many changes that are set to happen in her life, “In September I will be going to Catholic School to begin studies for my A’ levels and then hope to go the UK to pursue medicine and become an Obstetrician Gynecologist.”
What about the Miss Cayman title? For that McGaw modestly answers with a giggle,“ Yes, I have my sights set on that too.”
