Tony's Toys hosts seminar for truckers

Miguel Zamorano, Castrol’s Distributor Channel Manager for the Caribbean region, makes a presentation about the company to participants at the recent Tony’s Toys/Castrol technical seminar.

A two-day technical seminar hosted by local automotive dealer, Tony’s Toys/Car Boutique and Castrol provided Cayman’s garage owners, automotive tradesmen, car dealers and heavy equipment operators with information on the care and maintenance of vehicles, particularly in relation to the use of lubricants.

The seminar was held on 24-25 June at Governor’s Square Board room and was the first of what is hoped to be an annual exercise to provide up-to-date, technical information to local motorists and equipment operators.

Castrol representatives, Miguel Zamorano, Distributor Channel Manager for the Caribbean region and Jose Guevera conducted the seminar which was attended by over 50 persons for the two days.

The forum provided a comprehensive overview of the main functions of engine lubricants; main components of lubricants; engine oil additives; monograde and multi-grade lubricants and hydraulic oil applications. Participants were given information about Castrol’s product line of lubricants.

One of the topics that generated lively debate during the seminar, and was of particular relevance to heavy equipment operators, was the question of reducing operating costs, especially given the current high fuel prices.

Seminar presenters highlighted the need for proper, on-time maintenance, particularly of aging equipment, and use of the right lubricants as a step towards extending the life of vehicles and machines.

The issue of environmentally friendly practices in the disposal of used oil was also highlighted.

Tony Williams, Managing Director of Tony’s Toys, says the seminar highlighted the need for ongoing technical support to local fleet and heavy equipment operators. “It is our goal to do more for our customers than distribute automotive products. We are also going the extra mile to ensure that they have the right information about these products so that whatever they use can be of maximum benefit to their equipment and their business,” he said.

He noted that Tony’s Toys, with the help of Castrol, would host additional seminars based on the needs of the local market. He advised participants that Tony’s Toys would facilitate free analysis of their oil efficiency usage. Persons would just be required to provide a sample, which would be sent to Castrol’s laboratory in Miami for testing and analysis.

Tony’s Toys is the local distributor for Castrol lubricants and also operates Castrol/Xpress Lube, providing full service vehicle maintenance and oil changes.
