Letter: An alternative to smoking bans I think that the big pharmaceutical’s like Johnson & Johnson and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a non-profit that owns much of J & J should be held legally accountable for the proliferation of all of the false data that have resulted in smoking bans worldwide. There is absolutely no basis regarding health and second hand smoke, none of it would stand up in a court of law. The whole anti-smoking movement is absurd and should be exposed as nothing but pharmaceutical greed. - Marlene McBakken
The top teams remain undefeated in touch rugby The Diani Beach, Kenya, Touch Rugby Tournament will be taking place on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world 15/16/17th May 2009. Five kilometres of wonderful white sand, amazing clear blue waters and a coral reef running parallel to the beach six hundred meters offshore. An idyllic setting for a tournament like this, which we hope will become an annual event. I would be grateful if you would pass this on to any of your members or friends, young and old who may be interested. The emphasis will be on having an entertaining weekend and some great Touch Rugby and meet many old friends and make lots of new ones! An opportunity to make a real holiday of it with all the family or partner and perhaps fit in a Game Safari in one of our many game parks -- Shimba Hills, Tsavo Game Park are just a drive away, for others an airstrip is five minutes away -- or private Game Ranches. Deep sea fishing, diving, kite surfing and snorkelling, a challenging 18 hole Golf course six minutes away, all are available or just lazing on the beach. ‘Special rate’ accommodation within 5 minutes walk of the venue -- Forty Thieves beach bar, see Lonely Planet. We look forward to hearing from you and the web site has all the details. - George Barbour, Authorised by the K.R.F.U. dianibeachtouchrugby.com
Opinion: Making a better life Please make arrangements to have all stories of years gone by, which you plan to publish over the next few weeks / months put together in a book. I have lived in the Cayman Islands over 30 years and many of the stories told to me by Caymanians, who have passed away in the meantime, are like lost treasures. I feel so privileged to have been part of such special people, let us keep their life experiences of the “Island Time Forgot” period like the treasures they represent. - Tania Drebenstedt |
