The current poll has been suspended at 1:30pm on Monday, March 21, 2005
following a pattern of suspicious voting since we began closely monitoring such
activity following our previous poll of last week.
In view of this development, which
leads us to believe the integrity of current poll has been compromised and/or
manipulated, the results of this poll will not be published.
Cayman Net News
is making arrangements for a more secure method of voting for future polls.
Important notes:
-
Each week's poll closes as of 3:00 pm each
Monday and the results are published in the Wednesday edition of Cayman Net
News, which goes on sale on Tuesday night.
-
The results of our online polls are not
scientific, in that people voting may not comprise a representative
cross-section of the Cayman Islands electorate. The results recorded represent
only the opinions of those readers of our online edition who cared to cast their
vote in the poll in question.
-
Those who doubt the veracity of our polls
should bear in mind that Cayman Net News correctly forecast 80 percent of the
winning candidates in the 2000 General Election.
-
Although the polling software has a built-in
restriction of one vote from each IP address, the system is still open to
manipulation by those who choose to do so, by voting on more than one computer
or voting again when their IP address is renewed by their ISP. Some
intranet users may find that their network has a global IP address, which will
prevent more than one person using that network from voting.
