With only a few weeks until the finals of the TeleCayman Squash Business League, the matches are getting more intense as the teams battle for a place in the semis. Round 6 was played at South Sound Squash Club last week.
In A Grade one of the best battles of the night was Fernando Beckles against Janet Sairsingh. Fernando was playing his 2nd match for the night, and was struggling with Janet’s winners, but was eventually able to win 11-4 in the 5th. In the 2nd match Jody Jervis came back well from his devasting loss last week where he had 5 match balls, with a strong win over Nick Buckley to help the Caribbean Champs beat Aon1 3-0.
Alphasoft continued their winning form, but only just got over the line against BDO. Glen Trenouth put up a good fight, but went down in straight sets to Wazza. Paul Johnson wasn’t expecting the strength that new member Rani Jarkas had and lost in 3, but got enough points to get his team across the line.
Deloitte beat Krys/EFG Bank in a close match that was won on a countback. In the battle for the bragging rights, Bone Dry Photo had a good win over Charlie’s Angels, with the match between Nelson and Needham getting heated and contentious. Matt Taber had a strong win over Charlie Adams. Cayman Physio continued their good form with a win over HSBC.
In C grade Massive and Fortis had a great battle, with Tina Kirkaldy and Camille Josephs having a tough 5 set match, with Camille winning 11-8 in the 5th. Aon2 continues to be one of the fastest improving teams, but was unable to overcome Digicel, losing the match by 3 points.
Samson and McGrath2 continue their strong form at the top of the C grade table, with a 3-0 win over TeleCayman, with Dave McGrath having a tough victory over Tom Kinstler.
Cayman27 continued getting stronger with a tough-fought victory over Cayman Airways. Robert Berry from Cayman Airways and Jeremy Davies had a spectacular, long-drawn-out battle with the 4th game going to 16-14 to Jeremy, who eventually won in 5. Jason Harper finished the victory with a very close 4 sets win over Lorraine Gilies. |
