Breeze FM cools the community

Published on Wednesday, October 28, 2009Email To Friend    Print Version

The 3rd Annual Breeze Fusion Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, 7 November, with proceeds going to the NCVO and Lion’s Club of Tropical Gardens “Reading is Cool Programme”.  Making the first sponsorship donation to Radio Cayman/Breeze FM’s Sales & Marketing Manager Paulette Conolly-Bailey (R) is Robert Sairsingh, President of Roma FC.  Roma FC has supported the event since inception, donating funds raised from their annual Roma FC/Jamaica Independence Celebrations.  Banny Stephenson (2nd L) of Roma FC/member of the Independence Celebrations Organising Committee and Cheryl Thompson (L), Radio Cayman Account Executive share in the moment.

With less than two weeks to go, organizers of the 3rd Annual Breeze Fusion 3k Run/Walk are looking forward to another successful staging. Radio Cayman and Breeze FM continue their quest to be involved in and make meaningful contributions to the society, while promoting healthy family and community activities.

Radio Cayman’s Sales & Marketing Manager/Acting Deputy Director, Paulette Conolly-Bailey, who is also the Event Coordinator, says she is “pleased that the run/walk is being embraced again this year—particularly by the corporate community and participants in the event, which continues to grow from strength to strength. Ever mindful of the needs of the community, Radio Cayman and Breeze FM are always seeking ways to positively impact various facets of society.

To this end, we are delighted to offer our support to the NCVO and the Lion’s Club of Tropical Gardens “Reading is Cool Programme”, while encouraging a healthy lifestyle.”

Since inception, part-proceeds from the event go to the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), an independent, non-profit, charitable organization which engages in projects to meet the ever-growing needs of the community.

This year, the LCTG’s “Reading is Cool Programme” was chosen in keeping with Radio Cayman/Breeze FM’s determination to play a part in youth development programmes.

Director of Broadcasting, Norma McField, states “As part of Radio Cayman’s continuing efforts to be involved in the community and to promote our music station Breeze FM, it is a pleasure to host the 3rd Annual Breeze Fusion Run/Walk. We want people to listen to Breeze FM not only because we provide great music, but also because we care about our listeners—as one of our slogans state “we love our listeners” and want them to be healthy.

It would be fantastic if all our listeners participated in the event. They will be supporting a worthwhile cause and also have a chance to win random prizes. I encourage everyone to come out to this family event, as we even have a pram-pushers category and it will be fun for all.”

As it was last year, registration fee is only $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for students. Pre-registration is now taking place at caymanactive.com/breeze, with registration also on the morning of the event from 6:45am for a 7:30 start.

The first 140 participants will receive an event T-shirt. In addition, participant medals and a gift will be given to the first 75 runners/50 walkers as well as 1st, 2nd, 3rd place finishers in each category.

Trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female winners. There will also be random prizes.

Sponsors include Roma United FC, Funky Tangs—both supporting the event since the start—Reflections, ARCP, Progressive Distributors and donors Lee’s Office Products.

HSBC Cayman supports the event through the donation of T-shirts and entry of a large team from their company in the Run/Walk. Special thanks to Coach Jerry Harper and his team.
