Carifta Games launch next Wednesday

The Official launch of the CARIFTA Games will take place on Wednesday, 4 November at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex at the VIP lounge starting at 5:30 pm.

The launch will begin with a reception followed by a presentation at 6:00 pm and the unveiling of the logo at 6:20pm .

“The Cayman Islands hosted the CARIFTA Games for the first time in 1995; we are excited about hosting them for the second time next year,” the Cayman Islands Athletic Association said in a statement to the press.

“You played a major role in the successful hosting of the 1995 edition of these Games and we once again invite you to be a partner with the Cayman Islands Athletic Association in hosting these Games,” read the statement.

CARIFTA will be held from 3-5 April, 2010.  The age group categories are under -17 and under 20 boys and girls. The schedule of events will be available at a later date.

Twenty-six countries from the Caribbean will be participating in the Games, and for the first time, they will serve as a regional qualifier for the World Youth Olympic Games.
