Sports Person of the Week - Mitchell Forbes

Mitchell Forbes

Sixteen-year-old Mitchell Forbes has been participating in track and field for the last eight years.

A student of the John Gray High School (JGHS), Mitchell participates in the 100m, 200m and long jump. Out of the three events, he said the long jump is his favourite.

He has also had the opportunity to represent the Cayman Islands overseas in various Caribbean countries and in the US.

He explained that he trains five days a week for around three hours a day and said that a lot of dedication is required to participate in track and field.

For a career he said he would like to remain in track and field. In addition, Mitchell had advice for young people in the Cayman Islands:

“Track and field is something good to participate in, and is something that helps to provide discipline.”
